How To Use A Digital Photo Frame As A Pc Monitor

A Digital photo frame was created primarily to display a large number of photographs on a digital screen. Technological advancements allow users to use a direct connection that allows the frame to act as a display monitor for their computers. Many of the new models can be used without the need of either a video card or installed device drivers. Furthermore, most frames already have the necessary software for secondary display function, giving them plug and play operability.

The first step in transforming a digital photo frame into a personal computer monitor, involves a USB cable. The frame comes equipped with a USB cable. This cable is used to connect to the personal computer. The USB cable should go to the port of the PC, while the mini- connector end should be connected to the picture frame. Once this is done, a user should turn on the PC and the frame.

After connecting the digital photo frame to a personal computer, allow the PC to detect the frame. Operating systems such as the Windows XP go through an automatic detection process, applying the necessary drivers' software. In case the operating system lacks the appropriate drivers' software, the user will have to supply the drivers themselves. They can do this by either downloading the software from the photo frame's manufacturer's website or from any other software offering websites. Alternatively, users can load the software from the Compact Disc that accompanies the frame. The drivers can be applied by running them from the compact disc or from the hard drive.

After doing this, the last step involves choosing the right settings for the digital photo frame through the display settings. Accessing the display settings of the new PC monitor begins by right clicking with the mouse on the operating system desktop. This is followed by choosing the "display setting" icon and clicking on the listed frame among the monitor choices. There are two main display types, the "mirror" which displays an exact duplicate of the primarily display. The other type is the "extended desktop" which expands the desktop to the new display. The last step is choosing the resolution and color depth of the frame and then pressing the "okay" to save the new settings . The new display should change to the users chosen settings and begin to perform as a secondary personal computer monitor.
